Yo woman! Listen up!

Lots been said, lots been done about gender equality. Oh how dare I write YET another cry-baby post! I just don't fit into this whole idea of homemaker. No! It's not just my responsibility (or my mother in law's) to put food on the table or do the dishes or clean the house or parent my child. The naked truth of how screwed Indian families are built is something I witness every passing day. Oh he's had a hectic day. Let him rest. Oh we've never let him do any work. Let him be. Oh he wouldn't know how to do the dishes. Here I'll help you. STOP Already! Don't back your son's inability to participate in household chores with lame reasons and decorate it with I'm here to help you, dear mother in law/father in law. Let your son drop his oh I'm a blessed gender who can cool my butt off after getting off work. Men are as important to a family's ecosystem as women are. Sharing equal responsibility in every step of this journey of togetherness is the first brick of a marriage. Woman, don't work your ass off trying to be the good daughter in law you'll never be. Let your child see how it's important to grow into a social being instead of being moulded into the current definition of perfect daughter in law or an "I'm so privileged that I can afford to stay the boy I am till I live" son. What we sow, we shall reap.
